Founded in 2019 by John and Emily Choate, Storyline Multimedia was born from a shared passion for creativity, storytelling, and business strategy. Before launching the company, John spent seven years as a Creative Media Specialist at the University of Iowa while earning his BA degree in Graphic Design and Media Arts. Around the same time, Emily completed her MBA and CPA, forming the perfect left-brain/right-brain partnership that powers Storyline today.
At their core, John and Emily believe every brand has a story worth telling. Whether working with doctors, construction crews, hairstylists, real estate agents, or nonprofits, the goal remains the same—capture what drives people, what inspires them, and how their services/products make a difference. We don’t just create content—we help people connect through powerful storytelling.

Tabitha Karaba
Tabitha Karaba holds a master’s degree in Graphic Information Technology from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in Film and Media Studies from Kenyatta University. Her background spans video production, motion design, and web design, with experience across agency, in-house, and freelance work—all driven by a passion for visual storytelling and creative collaboration.
At Storyline, Tabitha wears many creative hats and thrives on the variety each project brings—new briefs, new clients, and new stories to tell. Outside of work, she can often be found spending time with a pet or chasing inspiration for her next motion design idea.
Matthew Pursell
Matthew Pursell holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Art (Photo & Video Emphasis) from the University of Iowa. His background spans video and audio production, along with hands-on experience in marketing strategy—serving clients across local businesses, freelance projects, and agency work. At the core of it all is his passion for helping people tell their stories.
At Storyline, Matthew brings that passion to life by guiding clients through video shoots, producing polished YouTube content, crafting SEO-optimized reels, and delivering studio-quality podcasts. When he’s not behind the camera or in the edit suite, you’ll likely find Matthew hiking around Lake MacBride, spinning vinyl records, watching a movie with his wife, Rachel, or diving into his next creative project.
